It’s week 3 of 52 Things of Beauty!
This week, I’m sharing a painting that I made for my friend Laura. Laura is one of my Auburn buddies. She is so full of life and always wearing the biggest smile! If you live in Auburn, you know and LOVE Laura. She also happens to have the cutest family evaaaa!
Laura wanted a painting that could add some life to her walls and she loves gold leaf — my kinda girl! 🙂 She listed some of the colors in her rug for me and this is what we were able to produce. This piece was a lot of fun for me to make because of all the colors and layers. For this one, I used watercolor, acrylic, oil, gold leaf, gesso, sand texture and glass beads. It’s hard to see from the picture, but the differing layers create lots of fun dimension. The theme for her paint was “delight”. The Bible verse I chose was Psalm 37:4, ” Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart ” .
By now, you have hopefully figured out that the 52 things of Beauty project is about giving back. The labor of making 52 paintings is my gift; in return, the recipient of each painting does something to help others. Laura chose to give to the Bell Center. The Bell Center for Early Intervention Programs is dedicated to maximizing the potential of children from birth to three years of age who are at risk for developmental delay. The daughter of one of her best friend’s attends there, so The Bell Center is a special place to Laura and her family. They gathered and donated items from the wish list on the Bell Center’s website, which can be found here https://www.thebellcenter.org/ways-to-help/
Lots of schools rely on donations from the community. If you are looking for a new way to give, you should check with a school in your area and see what they need. I promise you, they will be VERY grateful! Thanks Laura for helping to make the world a more beautiful place!
